One of the reasons why HIV/AIDS isn't a every day concern for most people is that the numbers are too big. As humans we cant emotionally invest in something we cant imagine or picture, let me explain....so picture in your head 10 people....now 1000 people... now 100,000...starting to get a bit fuzzy... OK now picture 34 million....

whoops... there goes the picture...  and if you cant picture it... you cant picture how it relates to you...

So i always try and compare the statistics with something people can imagine...

helps them to understand just how serious an issue the epidemic is. So usually I use the following...

AIDS Deaths = 34 Million = Every Man , Woman and Child in Canada (give or take)
  • so would we be ok if they all vanished over 30 years?

So next we need to ask the following

What if:
  • 1 plane exploded in mid-air a month would you still fly?

How about:
  • 1 per day - would you fly then? Imagine the worlds response if that happened?
  • 8 per day..every day...365 days a year... what would we do?

That's how many people died from HIV/AIDS in 2012 ... Ask yourself... if flying was that dangerous would you still do it? Didn't think so... so now why the hell don't you go for an HIV/TEST and use a condom?!?!!?

get tested...take a pic...share it ... hashtag it #ProjectZeroHIV ... use a condom... come on people... not that difficult...
